The government and petroleum dealers have reached an understanding on the payment mechanism for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme. Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met petroleum dealers’ representatives to address reimbursement concerns.

Claims to Be Processed Within 48 Hours

Dealers were informed that claims submitted under the scheme would be processed within 48 hours. The State Bank of Pakistan briefed participants on the reimbursement mechanism, while funds covering three months had been earmarked.

Rs. 25 Billion Allocated for the First Month

The government provided Rs. 25 billion for the first month to the State Bank of Pakistan to support timely reimbursement to participating petroleum dealers.

Digital System and Control Room

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications briefed dealers on the scheme’s digital system. A dedicated control room was also established to assist petrol pumps and respond to complaints. Petroleum pumps can contact it through 9772.

Dealers End the Deadlock

Petroleum dealers’ associations welcomed the agreement and assured officials of their cooperation. The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association said negotiations had resolved the deadlock and dealers had started implementing the scheme.

What Happens Next?

The immediate priority is implementing the agreed reimbursement mechanism so participating petrol pumps can receive payments under the established procedure.
