Expats in Pakistan: Visa Extension Process (Simple Guide)

If you’re an expat staying longer in Pakistan, don’t overstay. Fines, blacklisting, and exit issues are real.

How to extend your Pakistan visa:

  1. Apply online only
Go to Pakistan Online Visa System (NADRA). No agents needed.

  2. Required documents

    • Passport (valid)

    • Current Pakistan visa

    • Recent photo

    • Reason for extension (work, family, medical, business)

    • Supporting documents (LOI, employer letter, marriage certificate, etc.)

  3. Choose extension duration
Usually 30, 60, or 90 days (depends on visa type).

  4. Pay fee online
Fee varies by nationality and visa category.

  5. Track application
Processing usually takes 5–10 working days. Status updates are online.

  6. Receive decision by email
Approved extension is electronic. No passport stamping needed.

Critical advice:

  • Apply at least 7–10 days before expiry

  • Overstay = fines + future visa trouble

  • Don’t trust street “agents” — most are useless or scams

If you’re in Pakistan, this is your responsibility. Handle it early, handle it clean.
